Our Story
JIAN is the first Jianbing store in Chicago. We are a local restaurant that began our business in the Chicago French Market in 2019. Many people might not have heard about Jianbing. It is one of the most popular foods in China, originating from the Shandong province in Northern China and flourishing in Beijing, Tianjian,Shanghai. It now thrives all over China.
As Chinese Americans, we grew up with a fierce love for Jianbing and a passion for traditional Chinese food. A few years ago, we returned to China and were able to relish an authentic Jianbing in a time-honored restaurant. Each bite was an explosion of authentic oriental flavor. We were inspired by Master Zhou, the owner, and his exquisite culinary skills. This indelible experience taught us the magical art of preparing Jianbing, and we brought the secret recipe back to America. Under Master Zhou’s personal instructions, we fused the Chinese taste with American style to create this scrumptious dish.
We insist on keeping our food always natural, fresh, and homemade. Join us on this culinary journey through the mysterious oriental land.
Our Menu
We insist that everything to make jianbing is homemade. Our sauce and powder are crafted by us, and each crispy layer inside our jianbing is fried by us. We have also created various flavors on the basis of the original jianbing. That's why our jianbing restaurant slogan is "Timeless Tradition, Infused with Creativity and Sincerity."
